On October 4 we begin to recognize Fire Prevention Week. The key message of this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home, including the basement. Other important, possibly lifesaving, home safety and fire prevention tips include:
· Every home should have a working Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector.
· Service chimneys before using your fireplace each season.
· Clean dryer vents so there is no buildup of lint.
· Never leave burning candles unattended.
